Karman Space & Defence

Karman came to Rebel with the opportunity to redesign their current website. They wanted to see which agency could come up with THE BEST out of the box ideas for their new website. We were told that they had a pretty large budget and that the sky was the limit. Our challenge was to see how we could make them stand out from their competition.

Throughout this project, I worked in tandem with my Creative Director. He had put together two great options for their new homepage and then asked me what I would do differently to really WOW them. I immediately wanted to make it more interactive and immerse the user into the whole experience. I had been dabbling with a ton of prototyping in figma at the time, and wanted to put my skills to use. I started off by creating an animated loading screen that would then bring the user to the main page. From there I created various frames/boards to represent every stage of the scroll that the user would experience. When prototoyping them all together, we were then able to better understand how the user would be seeing the site upon scroll.

After the screen loads, the main introduction of the site starts off in Space. You are immersed around this globe graphic. As you scroll, the globe will animate to the left and right of the copy, eventually anchoring at the bottom of the screen. Then the globe will zoom out into the center of the screen and as you scroll you'll see the full story about Karman be told through interacting text and imagery.

Karman evokes a sense of wonder and belief in their mission, transporting the user into a three-dimensional space where they can explore with a simple scroll, engaging with their tech and innovations, freeing them from the everyday world and into the future. To get there, we built a rough mockup of what a more dynamic, innovative digital experience might begin to look like.
